February & March were busy months for our choirs!

All-District Chorus at Hermitage HS was a success! Deep Run had their most students in school history selected to represent us at All-Virginia Chorus in April! A HUGE congratulations to Harper, Jane B, Julie N, Jordan G, and alternate Caitlin C!

Deep Run had another amazing District Festival showing with all four of our competing choirs receiving Superior ratings! This means, combined with the superior ratings of band and strings, for the FOURTH straight year Deep Run HS has been awarded the VMEA Blue Ribbon School of Music Award!

Spring Trip in Disney World was another Wildcat success, with all choirs receiving excellent or superior ratings at competition! Although the snow cancelled our February Black History Month concert with Tucker HS, the chorus became Disney Cast Members for a day and performed our February material outside at Epcot. And we anticipate a performance with Tucker at a future date.


Just a reminder: Honors Credit materials are all due this Friday, April 2 for the 3rd Marking Period.

Hi!

I hope you’ve been enjoying the snow! Remember we’ve got a lot to do once we get back to school…

Solo call backs will be whichever extended study we have!

Also there’s the field trip to Tucker on Friday!
Women’s choirs leave Deep Run as close to 8:45 as we can. Please be in the chorus room at 8:30 for attendance and warmup.
Belle Voci and Cantar Bellamente please pack your lunch and plan to leave class at 11:15 to eat lunch in the commons! You’ll leave for Tucker at 11:45 when the women’s choirs return.
Please print the following field trip forms and bring them with you to school! Remember you can not attend the trip if you do not have this form signed by your folks!

Many thanks to all of you who auditioned for Belle Voci, Cantate, Sound Steps or Voce Unificato for the 2010-2011 school year. I enjoyed hearing you sing (and in the case of Sound Steps seeing you dance). It was very exciting and I appreciate how much time you spent preparing!

If your name isn’t listed below- please don’t think that means I don’t need you! I am really counting on all of you (and many, many of your friends and classmates) to help make this department really amazing! Cantar Bellamente is a great singing experience and a lot of fun- sign up for 9282 on your course selection sheet! In addition there are a few unnamed alternates for each ensemble below. If you are interested in serving as an alternate you should keep room for choir in your schedule to facilitate an easy transition.

If your name appears below I will expect to receive a commitment form or an email from you about your commitment in these groups. If you are unable to fill your position I need to know before February 20th. If you currently attend Deep Run High School please have me sign your course selection sheet.

In addition if your name appears on the list below I will expect to see a step up in your performance in your current vocal music ensemble.

If you have any questions about this list at all please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Your friends and other students can not help you.

SPRING TRIP FUNDRAISERS

SILENT AUCTION: Thursday, December 10th, 5:30-7pm; Deep Run HS Commons
The items will be awarded to the highest bidders directly after the Chorus Winter Concert.
We are still collecting donations. If anyone has a donation they would like to make please send an email to drcspringtrip@gmail.com. (And see the Documents page for the forms.) A list of items will be posted after December 1st for everyone to preview prior to the Silent Auction date.

And lastly: This year we will be selling boxed meals for concert nights. All meals must be per-ordered and paid for no later than Tuesday, 10/13/09 at 4:00pm. No orders will be taken after that date.

The selections will be:
1. Chick-fil-A Sandwich with chips and a drink for $5.50
2. Chargrilled Cool Wrap with chips and a drink for $5.00

All meals will arrive at Deep Run High School by 5:30pm on Concert night, 10/15/09.
